Ten days in Dumfries and Galloway gave me the chance to devote time to visiting the area which has wildlife that needs to be found
After following a forestry road for a few miles, I came across this clear view over Loch Ken
As it is still mid July, this adult male Red Deer is still in velvet but he has a small group of females. Hence the "Scowl"
By far the most exciting session was two days following the antics of Red Tailed Kites
Not too far from Newton Stewart, I came across an RSPB release site where young birds are reared before being released into the wild throughout the country
On one day, I sat watching as the Kites described as "slightly older", returned to the farm in search of food. They gave me a more relaxed time in which to concentrate on various individual birds.
On day two, the heavens were filled with "yearling" birds who hang around the area before making their way around the county
So many birds doing so many things all at the same time, certainly make you camera wise at top speed
But then it is back to seeking the unusual image
This image was taken in the harbour at Isle of Whithorn
There was no name and no flag, but I was told that it is used for training teenagers and sometimes does sailing adventures along the west coast
What a pity the tide was out and I didn't feel like sitting around for six hours awaiting its arrival
